Series and parallel

Series adds. Parallel divides. Enter your values and read both at once — the answer you want is often the one you were not computing.

Two things worth knowing

Two equal resistors in parallel give half the value, and twice the power handling — that is the usual reason to do it. And a parallel total is always smaller than the smallest resistor in the set, so if your answer is bigger, you added when you meant to divide.
